The Story of The Writer's Glove®

Ben Sobieck, creator

Computer gloves warmI’m a writer best known for non-fiction works like The Writer’s Guide to Weapons (Writer’s Digest Books), a renowned blog about writing weapons in fiction, my Wattpad work, Writer's Block Coffee, and several well-read and award-winning thrillers. You can check out my entire bio on my here. That’s in addition to the work I’ve done as an online editor and product manager for a publishing company (read more on that here).

It’s no surprise that I spend a lot of time typing at a keyboard. I dreaded every winter in Minnesota when the temperature dropped and my hands became cold and stiff. Not only was this uncomfortable, it affected my productivity. I did what a lot of people do: I lit a candle next to my keyboard and warmed my hands throughout the day.

This wasn’t the safest option, and I started smelling like Ocean Breeze blowing through a bonfire wherever I went, so I searched for a glove that both kept my hands warm and didn’t slow my typing.

I was disappointed to find nothing but gimmicks and a whole lot of fingerless gloves. Maybe those fingerless gloves work for you, but I wanted something that covered my entire hand. After all, my fingers were doing most of the heavy lifting.

Instead of giving up, I started tinkering. I went through several rounds of prototypes, manufacturing partners and materials. I finally settled on what is now known as The Writer’s Glove®.

It made a huge difference. Not only did The Writer’s Glove® keep me comfortable at the keyboard during those cold months, but my productivity went way up. I wasn’t messing around with a candle or refreshing a hot cup of coffee. I was getting back to work, and I barely knew the gloves were there.

I’m thrilled to offer The Writer’s Glove® to you. Whether you find your typing slowing down during those cold months, work in an office where the air conditioning leaves your hands chilled, or just want a keyboard glove that finally gets it right, I’d be happy to send you a pair right away.
